Revolution

April 2, 2010

Have you gals caught Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution on ABC? If not, do. This guy is my hero and I am SO happy that a network is airing this program on Friday nights. This is huge-generally you would catch a show like this on the food network or another cable channel.

Of course Gwyneth is crushing on him too, for good reason. Check out the latest goop, and sign Jamie’s petition.

Free of Gluten Free!

April 1, 2010

That’s right. I back on the pizza, crusty bread, and beer. I tried pretty successfully to not care about my food intolerance but now that I’m on the other side I have to say wholeheartedly that it is WAY WAY BETTER to not have one.

Most of you have heard that my amazing mother gave me a gift of some treatments called NAET. Her good friend had success with them as well. The process is strange and illogical. And not for the faint of heart. And not cheap. Well, actually it is cheap at only $50 an hour long session. But after 20+ treatments you can do the math. But I am testifying that it works. And I completely love my girl and recommend her to anyone. Her name is Erin Kenning, she works out of the Kwan-Yin Healing Arts Center on Flanders and NW 23rd. 503.701.8766

In 20 weeks she cleared me of my problems with gluten, dairy, and eggs. But also she got my hormones back in balance and got my cycle regular with no cramps or pms. No small feat considering my former state.

I’d be happy to talk to anyone who wants more information! I can’t think of a better investment in Being Well!

Barre meets Bar

February 11, 2010

Lets do it!

At this point you all know that I need to host several free barre3 classes in order to actually get paid to teach this method. My suggestion? I teach a class in the Pearl for BeWellers and we then head over to MetroVino for a much deserved glass of wine.

I am tentatively throwing out next Wednesday. I still need to look at the schedule at Pearl barre3 location to confirm-but wanted to get this out there.

Thinking a 6PM class….

We can talk about Giving too.

Thoughts?!

Give It Up-BeWell 2010

January 21, 2010

Hey ladies,

Lets get something on the books for our next meeting. How does the first week in February look for everyone?

Again, the topic for this 1st quarter is giving. Couldn’t come at a better time with what is happening in Haiti.  What if we all come prepared to share our thoughts about incorporating giving into our lives, and maybe we can each bring $10 to donate to the Haiti relief fund?

What do you all think?

Congrats to Abby!

2010 is going to be a big year for our friend Abby, from Abby’s Table. Many of us know Abby and her delicious array of healthy food from the Family Style dinners she hosts. Well, she and her team have taken it up an notch and are now selling her fantastic dips, dressings and sauces in several stores around the Portland area. We could not be happier to see her business grow. Check it out!

It’s the season for giving, so do it

December 19, 2009

I feel a little weird writing this post, but I figure if it inspires any of you to take action, then it’s worth it-there are beneficiaries on both sides.

This morning after a long run and a grocery shop at Whole Foods I was walking home and was kinda cold. I swore off Starbucks last New Years, but I figured a coffee would make my walk home that much warmer, so I sauntered in. Behind me in line was a woman who was clearly going through chemo. Though her pale skin and covered head made her seem much older, in looking at her face, she was probably mid-30’s. Ouch. We exchanged a quick smile-like thing and I was up to order. After what must have been a semi-second of deliberation in my head, I order my coffee and said to the barista girl “I’ll get hers too, the lady behind me-tell her happy holidays”. The barista girl replied “great, I already know what she’s getting, she’s here all the time”. I got my coffee and was off. It happened like that. I literally walked on water the few blocks home. Not because I cured cancer, but because it was SO EASY. To think for a moment, I almost didn’t do it wondering “is that weird?” Luckily, the rational side of me kicked in saying “It’s only coffee, step up”.

I’m happy we are focusing on giving in the new year. Cleanses make you feel good, exercise makes you feel good, but for fuck sake, people make the world go round-so spread some love to a stranger now and again! You deserve it.
